We have a sneaky sleeper on our hands. He wakes up in the night fairly often. He knows that if he comes to our room and wakes us up, we will *usually* take him back to his bed. (Definition of usually in this instance means; if we are not too tired and/or groggy to walk him all the way back to his room.)
So now he has perfected the quiet, sneaky entry into our bed. He can complete this task without waking either of us up. He comes in and crawls up the middle of the bed in between us (we have a king size bed), quietly gets under the covers and goes to sleep without disturbing anyone.
I know of his method because I witnessed it firsthand. One night I woke up and he was already on the bed. When I stirred, he froze like a little crouching tiger:
So I laid still to see what he would do. After he waited and thought I was asleep again, he resumed his stealth approach. When he got up to the pillow, he barely lifted the covers and slipped underneath smoothly and silently.
And we wake up in the morning to this site in our bed...
But this particular morning, we also woke to find THIS in our bed...
Caleb has been going on a lot of pretend picnics lately. So I guess he decided he needed to bring his picnic basket to our room "just in case" the occasion arose for a late night picnic.
The other funny thing about this incident was that when I went to bed, this picnic basket was in the living room with all the picnic necessities strewn about. So he went and packed it up in the middle of the night before he came to our room.
Cuteness.
