Proof that we are alive...

(You can click on the picture to see a larger version)

The behind-the-scenes making of this picture was quite humorous. We were on a 2 mile hike around the lake where we were camping at Tyler State Park. We perched the camera on a bridge and set the timer. It took approximately 12 attempts to get the person who was pushing the button in the picture before the timer went off.

What you can't see is that there are about 15 steps in front of us, so the distance to the camera was a decent jaunt.

I tried once, but I only made it to the bottom right hand corner of the picture...barely.

Steve tried the other 11 times, but he kept barely making it and wasn't seated fully and/or smiling by the time it went off. Oh, and there was also the small factor that Caleb got up and walked away EVERY time the flash went off. So we had to corral him back each time, which is why I am completely amazed that not only is he looking at the camera, he is actually *smiling* too!

On other notes, I have been a bad, bad blogger. If people gave awards away for neglecting your blog, I am sure I would win. With family and friends scattered from coast to coast, this is the best way I know to keep you all updated.

Here's to turning over a new leaf with more blog posts coming soon!

Book Character Dress-Up Day at School

What curious things one can transform their children into with a plain t-shirt, felt, needle and thread, and a $1.99 wig from Party City...

They had a parade and marched around armed with the books they were representing.

I hope his wig did not impede the learning process for the day. He was wearing it when I dropped him off, and he was wearing it when Steve picked him up. Not sure what happened all day in between...

but at home, there was a whole lotta shakin' going on.

Do you have $5?

Doesn't being generous feel good? There is something about giving of what you have to others who need it that brings a satisfaction that nothing material can match.

Did you know that there are an estimated 6 million orphans in Ethiopia? Our friends Aaron and Stacy are beginning the process to adopt one of those children without a mom and dad from Ethiopia. They know that they have been called to add to their family through adoption, but the costs are great. Isn't it wonderful that we can help people who are making a life long commitment to a child, and in doing so, be a part of changing a child's destiny forever?

It can be as simple as $5. Would you consider entering a raffle for this beautiful, handmade wooden cross made by Aaron, with all the proceeds going towards their adoption? Do something great today! Tickets are $5 each or 5 for $20. For more information, click HERE to check out Stacy's blog and enter the raffle!
